After having a coronary artery bypass surgery, Carolyn Thomas was in need of rehabilitation before she could return home.
Thomas came to Life Care Center of Florissant on April 6, 2016, for physical and occupational therapies so she could regain her independence and learn how to manage her heart health. She was having trouble with walking, as well as balance, sitting down and standing up.
Five days a week, therapists met with Thomas and worked on strengthening exercises, gait and balance training. The Biodex Balance System™ SD helped her work on balance, while the AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill® allowed Thomas to practice walking in a secure and reduced-weight environment.
“I had excellent therapy,” said Thomas. “When I came, I was not able to help myself. Therapy has brought me back to who I was.”
On May 10, Thomas returned home, able to walk with a rolling walker and take care of herself.
